Robotics Rehabilitation

Stroke Rehabilitation, through the application of advances in robotics and neuroscience, can restore hand function.

Research has shown that by actively engaging stroke patients in repetitive tasks, the brain is able to rewire neurological pathways of motor functions, and the patient relearns movement of hand. The functional recovery of hemiparetic limbs can occur and the recovery process can continue even years after the brain injury.

The Hand of Hope system is a wearable, portable robotic device to help stroke survivors to relearn how to move their affected hands using their own muscle signals. The technology enables stroke survivors to self-initiate and control the movement of the weakened muscles.
